In terms of the draft, I'd like to leave it open for further comments and
refinement over the next month or so, with a goal of having a final text
ready by mid-June -- which will hopefully give everyone time to review (and
promote) it before Wikimania.
As far as the Wikimania logistics are concerned, it seems increasingly
likely that scheduling conflicts will prevent us from holding a large
US-oriented meeting until very late in the conference schedule. Instead of
putting everything off until the last day -- which, in my opinion, would
not be ideal -- I'd like to propose a two-part strategy for adopting the
agreement:
(1) Hold a small formal signing ceremony sometime during the pre-conference
days. The idea would be to gather a few representatives of the key
US-based Wikimedian groups (e.g. someone from WM-NYC, someone from WM-DC,
someone from GLAM-US, etc.) and have a nice photo-op of them signing the
agreement.
(2) Leave copies of the agreement in the main Wikimania public areas for
the duration of the conference, and invite people to sign them when they
have the opportunity.
How does this approach sound?
Cheers,
Kirill

Hello everyone,
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I've been working on a draft for an
"agreement in principle" regarding an overall strategy for Wikimedia
chapters/groups in the US, with the intent to have a document that
individual Wikimedians can sign at Wikimania this summer.
My working draft of the agreement is located at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Kirill_Lokshin/Sandbox. The current
text has recently been revised based on a number of suggestions I received
yesterday at the US Wikimedians' IRC meeting.
As always, any comments or suggestions would be very appreciated!
Cheers,
Kirill
