Anyone have or know where to get a CC-by/free/PD photo of Ijeoma Oluo‎‎? I just put a DYK in the hopper, but I can't find anything on Flickr or elsewhere. On March 7 there's an Elliott Bay book signing I can go to but I don't know of any public events sooner. Dennis

One of the goals of this place is to promote Seattle's culture of open media. If any Wiki Cascadia people are able to go then great! I think that one of the challenges in Seattle to developing wiki culture has been outreach and advertising. Greetings Cascadians, Cascadia Wikimedians User Group, an independent affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, is accepting membership applications. Membership is not required to participate in most public activities; however, only members elect the Board of Directors and have certain privileges. The dues for membership are **$5** for a calendar year. We need your opinion: Invitation to survey about English Wikipedia Administrators Noticeboard/Incidents

Hello Wikimedians :-) The Wikimedia Foundation Support and Safety team, along with the Anti-Harassment Tools Team, is conducting a survey on the use of the English Wikipedia Administrator Noticeboard/Incidents to handle conflicts and harassment. It’s the first survey of it’s kind and is important information for future decisions about improvements. We are trying to get as many diverse opinions and voices as possible. In addition to the people that use it often, we need to hear from people who post on it rarely but read the board frequently. I want to make sure that you folks who edit English Wikipedia know about the survey. And I encourage you to participate if you have some experience with the noticeboard. Art + Feminism event at the Jake this weekend

Hi Cascadians, If you haven't seen this already, Seattle's Jacob Lawrence Gallery is hosting an Art + Feminism event this weekend. I connected briefly with one of the organizers about it and she said she'd like to have news of the event spread widely -- and would especially welcome more experienced editors to attend. Application is open for the attending the Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017

Hi all, We are excited to announce that the application is open <https://goo.gl/forms/dimatR4UKCjWSOwn1> for attending the Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017 <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Diversity_Conference_2017>, 3-5 November in Stockholm, Sweden. Please help share this with staff and volunteers who want to work together and share strategies to support and promote diversity in the Wikimedia movement. There are (at least) four reasons to register: - Participate: All interested participants must register to show their interest in attending the conference and that they qualify given the theme of the conference. - Shape the program: The first section of the registration is about the conference program and the questions are for interested participants to let the organising team know what they wish to learn, share and the kind of experience they have from working with diversity in Wikimedia. The participants are the core of the conference. - Lead activities: Anyone who registers can indicate if they want to lead activities during the conference, such as talks, discussions and/or training. With this information, the organising team will approach participants on how to engage in the conference and actively contribute to shaping the program. There will not be a traditional separate proposal submission process. - Apply for scholarship: The registration form also has a section for scholarship application <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Diversity_Conference_2017/Scholar…> and participants who want to apply for scholarship 2 and 3 should do so by 20 August (they are mainly intended for volunteers).
