Hi All,
Lou posted to this list previously about the Art+Feminism edit-a-thon at UW that she’s organizing. I’m posting now to ask for help!
She needs a *real* Wikipedian (or 2-3) to help out on March 3 and/or March 4 [1].
The event info is available via https://wainer2.wixsite.com/artfeminismuw
Any volunteers? :)
~Amanda / Mssemantics
[1] I’m willing to help, but I don’t consider myself a *real* Wikipedian.

Hey James,
I wanted to check in about the account creation status -- thanks for giving
me that privledge a while back, but I am having some difficulties seeing
where I can enroll folks.
I went to test it at Special:CreateAccount
Is this where to go?
but it looks like my IP address was blocked -- despite being logged in.
Something about a dog - rapper vandal-!!?? I would attach a screenshot but
the file is too big. This is the message I got "Account creation error
Account creation from IP addresses in the range *2607:FB90:0:0:0:0:0:0/32*,
which includes your IP address (*2607:fb90:2786:be29:80b4:8d9c:c05e:eed2*),
has been blocked by Graham87 <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Graham87>.
The reason given by Graham87 is *Disruptive editing
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Disruptive_editing>:
Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Dog and rapper vandal
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Dog_and_rapper_vand…>*
Return to Main Page <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page>.
I'm at home now, I'm not sure if I will be blocked at UW today. I hope not!
Can you help me and Peaceray know that we're in the right place to create
accounts for new users?
We'll have 45 participants today many who didn't create accounts in
advance.
Thanks for the last minute help!

Wanted to check in about participation in the UW-Bothell Editing as
Activism events:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle/Editing_as_Activism
Please RSVP if you can attend! There will be food and drinks both days! :)
If you can only attend one day, it would be especially great to have
experienced editors at the Edit-a-thon on Wednesday at the Common Grounds
Cafe. Parking is easy in the South Garage. I've included all parking
details on our event page.
**Materials inquiry**
My supply of "Editing Wikipedia" pamphlets is very low. I've got about five
pamphlets. Anyone have any to share? I would love to have a few to pass
out.
Or ideas on where to get them quickly?
Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing (some of) you there.

Note: Apologies for cross-posting and sending in English. Message is available for translation on Meta-Wiki.[1]
The Wikimedia movement is beginning a movement-wide strategy discussion, a process which will run throughout 2017. For 15 years, Wikimedians have worked together to build the largest free knowledge resource in human history. During this time, we've grown from a small group of editors to a diverse network of editors, developers, affiliates, readers, donors, and partners. Today, we are more than a group of websites. We are a movement rooted in values and a powerful vision: all knowledge for all people. As a movement, we have an opportunity to decide where we go from here.
This movement strategy discussion will focus on the future of our movement: where we want to go together, and what we want to achieve. We hope to design an inclusive process that makes space for everyone: editors, community leaders, affiliates, developers, readers, donors, technology platforms, institutional partners, and people we have yet to reach. There will be multiple ways to participate including on-wiki, in private spaces, and in-person meetings. You are warmly invited to join and make your voice heard.
The immediate goal is to have a strategic direction by Wikimania 2017 to help frame a discussion on how we work together toward that strategic direction.
Regular updates are being sent to the Wikimedia-l mailing list,[2] and posted on Meta-Wiki.[3] Beginning with this message, monthly reviews of these updates will be sent to this list as well.

Hello,
It would be nice if Cascadia could encourage anyone local to apply.

One of the job requirements is living near one of their offices. One is in
Seattle.
yours,

Dear Cascadian Wikimedians,
Hi! I recently joined the group and wanted to introduce myself: my name is
Luiza, I'm a library and information science grad student at the UW in
Seattle. Originally from Brazil, I have a background in Art Librarianship
and a particular interest in computer-supported collaboration tools (even
though my Wikipedia editing skills are still very rough).
I’m planning on organizing an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon at the UW in early
March (the 4th or the 11th, depending on confirmation of the location). As
a way to make the event salient to our community, the idea is to focus on
editing entries related to Indigenous art and Indigenous women artists. I’d
love to enlist your expertise in organizing the event and invite the group
to be an affiliated sponsor.
Please let me know if you are interested in getting involved. Any
