1) Regarding fees: Yes there are benefits to both high and low amount. I am of the opinion that from members we wish personal time more than money. People who are willing to organize events, runs things ect. How much money people are willing to put forth does not necessarily reflect commitment (even though it does to some degree) Some people will than be willing to give larger sums of money either with or without strings attached. Once things are up and running my business will make a $1000 dollar donation to Wiki Canada so that we are not completely destitute.
2) Do people wish that I post the documents of incorporation online? I would off course remove the personal contact information of directors who wish to keep a lower profile. A copy of the bylaws as accepted by the government are on the meta site.
3) WRT our own website Alan Walker and Ray Saintonge have been working on it. We have a web address. There was some discussion of logos. Do we have a role out of scheduled for the site?
The web site is hung up by two issues:
1) Can we use the Wikimedia Canada logo yet?
2) Can we use the wikimedia.ca name without offending anyone if the former is not yet approved.
I was hoping 1 and 2 would be resolved by now, but the future with the chapers committee seems unclear to me. Otherwise it is ready to go. Membership processing has not been looked at as we do not have a bank account yet. However, a strategy will need to be planned that I presume will be discussed at a future board meeting.

Since Ray is *on* the Chapters Committee, have you asked him? Or, of course, you might ask someone else on the committee if he feels he should recuse himself from such a question.

If I had a problem with using the wikimedia.ca site Alan would still not have access to it. He would have had to deal with my stubbornness as well as my laziness.
I just double checked at http://www.ic.gc.ca/app/opic-cipo/trdmrks/srch/tmSrch.do?lang=eng, the trademarks search page and wikimedia does not appear there, and since I already own the domain name there is no legal impediment to using it.
Whether such usages would offend anyone is less certain. I think it's important to consider the purpose of the site. For the foreseeable future its primary purpose will be administrative; this does not conflict with anything the WMF. As long as we proceed in good faith I can't see that there will be a problem. Should we later want to host some kind of public Wiki project that would be best put on some other domain.
I am only a little less certain about the logo. However, if there are any serious objections about that it should be easy for Alan to remove it from the site after those objections have been raised and argued about.

Sorry Eclicticology; I was myself being lazy. I really was only referring to the logo.
afaik, the Wikimedia community logo is PD, not a trademark, while the Wikimedia logo is both copyrighted permission-only, and trademarked. Whether Wiki Canada has permission to use the latter or derivatives is someone else's problem (I think ChapCom.)

We don't really need a formal two-tier payment system. We can just have a low membership fee and strongly suggest that people who are gainfully employed make an additional donation.
As for which documents to post online, I don't think most organizations post the documents themselves, but they do have a press release page that gives information about them. We'll have a "news" link front and centre on our new website.

I agree with this approach. A $10 membership fee should be more than enough to cover the costs of administering memberships, including reminder mailings at the end of a year. I expect that when we are able to receive tax-creditable donations, membership fees will only be a tiny segment of our revenue. The most significant reason for charging membership fees at all is for keeping track of members. People who can't be bothered to pay a small annual fee provide us with a convenient criterion for dropping them from the membership lists.

In the spirit of openness official documents should be posted unless there is a legal impediment against it.
