Dear all,
The submission period of the 8th edition of Wiki Loves Earth *— *the
biggest international photo contest devoted to nature heritage *— *has
finished!
We are excited about the results: we have got 106 240 photos of nature
monuments from 34 countries all over the world, and 23% of these pictures
are used in wiki projects. Despite the world health situation, it's the 3rd
biggest number of submissions in WLE history. We are thankful to everyone
for digging through your photo archives and making impact online! Your
pictures help to raise public awareness about protected areas and create
the biggest database of free photos of them.
What's next?
Local teams will announce their winners until the end of August, and then
we start evaluating photos for the international round. In October-November
you will discover who are the winners of WLE 2020.
Do you have any exciting WLE story to share?
Please reach out to us at wle-team(a)wikimedia.org.ua and let's spread the
word about the contest together!

Dear all,
Jury members who grade images of protected sites from all over the world
and help us to choose winners are crucial for organising Wiki Loves Earth.
We are now looking for jury for both the international round and local
ones. Candidates should have a background in nature photography,
environment, ecology etc. *and/or* be experienced Wikimedians. Please
consider applying yourself or spread the word among your friends who might
be interested.
*== Local jury ==*
Different local teams might need help with evaluating their submissions,
and we are looking to create a network of people willing to put some time
in helping evaluate photos from different countries.
Evaluation itself will happen in June-August, dependent on the country.
There are no strict rules, just fill out the form (see the link below) so
we can recommend you to one or several local teams, dependent on your
availability. The international team does not run evaluation of local
contests, we are just trying to connect people willing to help with local
teams.
*== International jury ==*
International jury is the team which evaluates the pool of local winners
and determines top photos of the international contest.
The evaluation will take place in September-October this year.
*Important:* international jury members should not come from or reside in
countries which participate in this year’s contest or be part of organizing
or local jury teams. You can check the list of participating countries *here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Earth_2020/Participat…>*
.
*== How to apply ==*
Please, fill out this short form, and we will contact you —
https://forms.gle/K6UCfUSrCDT86wFF8.
Again, please help spread this message even you cannot apply personally!
If you have any questions or have ideas whom the international team can
contact, reach out to us at wle-team(a)wikimedia.org.ua.

Dear all,
Wiki Loves Earth contest is aimed at creating the biggest database of free
photos of protected natural sites. WLE photos help to illustrate wiki
projects, but still, many articles are lacking such images.
How to improve this process? One of ways is encouraging participants that
have uploaded their photos to add them to the relevant articles and lists.
To do that, we have changed the text in the Upload campaign template to the
"call to action". Please, take a look at the *English version*
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_use_Wiki_Loves_…>
.
And we need exactly your help to translate this message into your
language(s). Please, check the list of templates *here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_use_Wiki_Loves_…>*
and help
to illustrate Wikipedia!
Thank you!
