The tool looks promising. However, I wonder why Microsoft was investing in
Wikipedia? Can we please know more about the motivation behind the project?

We're facing the Same issue that we faced when Google asked our the
community for their help. Working with any giant corporation to
improve free knowledge in Arabic can be good, but only if it didn't
include what Richard Stallman calls "Ruinous Compromises"[0].
My take on this is exactly the one that I summarized on Google
