Hi
We have had our first Google Summer of Code proposal finally accepted: * http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/project/google/gsoc2013/kiranmathewkoshy/... * https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Kiran_mathew_1993 /ZIM_incremental_updates_for_Kiwix * https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Kiran_mathew_1993
This project should really help people to keep their offline version of Wikipedia up-to-date without having to re-download everything each time.
The student and the two mentors are really happy about this decision of Google and Wikimedia. We take it as a big opportunity and will do our best to succeed.
Kind regards Emmanuel
Really cool! Looking forward to seeing what happens - keep us updated.

Many people have asked for a solution like this so I'm really glad that this is happening. Congrats to Kiran and the mentors and let us know when it's ready to test!

Thanks for your support, that means a lot.
Regarding the project, the work is about to start. We need to finalize a format for the zimdiff file(The file used to update the zim files). I have posted the details on the bugzilla page, and it would be great if you could take a look.
