The hosting of the Wikiwix server will be financed by WikimediaFrance in this new association, but I need a second server to generate the ZIM and especially to distribute them by Kiwix. I've not reviewed what the controversy is about, but in my own experience trying to write Wikipedia articles about Kiwix etc. it's very hard to find reliable sources able to disentangle some of the intricacies of the software's project.
Looking in my own emails from 15 years ago, I see past discussions with people mixing up Kiwix and Okawix, discussion about which project should be called a fork of which, how much of Okawix was really GPL, where openzim came from etc. Until a moment ago I had forgotten everything, but I think now I get where the confusion comes from.
A Wikipedia talk page is probably not the most effective place to settle the matter. It would be great to read more about your side of the story, even just in a blog post, before it's all forgotten. We will probably learn something, even if terminological quarrels aren't resolved to everyone's satisfaction (as they never are when discussing GNU/Linux distributions...).
