I also think we need to think about the rest state. The drop shadow works on scroll, but its heavy if you pause.

Brandon, this is great, I figured out what was bothering me about the parallax issue with the search bar fixing then the logo fixing. Can you not have it draw the left hand shadow? just a straight down shadow? This will make it less obvious that it it isn't a fixed bar all the way across. Small change.
