I just tried three admins and they all didn't have email enabled. I'm sure this is a bug rather than the idea that they never enabled email.
Do we in fact have an open bugzilla request about this issue? If so, could someone link me?
thanks, Brianna

If they didn't confirm their email, they can't be emailed by other users.

I just doublechecked mine, and my address was filled in properly - but then I tried actually emailing to myself, which didn't work, and then I noticed the little checkbox at the bottom of the preferences, which I don't remember ever noticing before. So maybe people have their mail reception disabled unawares - people have been sending to me via en:, so I wouldn't have noticed until somebody said something (like now :-) ).

I ran into this problem just over a month ago when I became an admin on en.wiktionary - I'd added my email address but failed to spot the addtional checkbox.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to make a note of this checkbox's existence right by where you enter your email address. Is this set on a MediaWiki: namespace page somewhere or do we need a developer to do it?
