Hi Folks,
We encourage each and everyone of you to create a program submission. You can submit an interactive workshop or panel, a lecture, a short lighting talk or a poster for our dedicated poster session. Submissions are catered to both onsite and online (live or pre-recorded) or a hybrid combination. We at the Core Organizing Team would like to see a program submission related to Commons.
The theme for this year's Wikimania is Diversity, Collaboration, Future. Topics that strengthen collaboration on Commons are topics we like to see this year. These include commons license, multimedia, photography outreach (photo walks, teaching participants on Urban Landscape Photography or Nature Photography). Singapore is one of a few countries where Freedom of Panorama exists. It is great way to collaborate with each other. There is also a spacious Wikimania Expo space where achievements on Commons like Photography campaigns can be exhibited.
For participants joining virtually, we also have allocated online hours for you too to allow you to participate & present.
Session submissions for Wikimania 2023 are open until 28 March.

Hi everyone,
We are a team of researchers working on a project that involves analyzing
the cultural diversity and gender representation of images on Wikimedia
Commons. To achieve this, we need to annotate a large number of images
based on gender and cultural representation (specifically food and dress).
This is where we need your help! We are looking for volunteers who are
interested in participating in this annotation project. No prior experience
is required, and all you need is access to a computer and an internet
connection.
The annotation process will be conducted online using a simple labeling
tool that we have built. This tool will be accessible via a web link and
can be completed at any time convenient for you.
Your task will be to view and label batches of images based on cultural
items such as food and dress, and gender representation depicted in the
images. Each batch of images should take about 30 minutes to label, and you
may complete up to 2 batches of images.
Your work may potentially be contributed back to Wikimedia Commons to help
improve the structured data if you give us permission to do so.
Additionally, for each batch of images you complete, we will offer you a
gift card valued at $15 or a note of appreciation as a token for your time.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out this online form
<https://form.jotform.com/230713723454048>. If there are still available
slots, we will email you with the next steps.
Thank you in advance for your help!

<https://form.jotform.com/230713723454048>.

Hi everyone,
Please see below, if you haven't yet. Submissions are now open
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2023/02/28/be-part-of-the-wikimania-2023-program/>
for the 2023 Wikimania in Singapore. Take a look, make a submission, and
encourage others to do so as well. The community core organizing team is
prioritizing more interactive session ideas and for the more traditional
ones, encouraging lightning talks, on-demand video content, and posters.
There are 11 tracks at this submission stage to choose from – the usual
ones like community initiatives and research, and others like open data and
wild ideas – and the theme for the event is Diversity. Collaboration.
Future.

Mehrdad
