Dear Ancianos,
I'm usually the worst at letting friends know about performances I'm involved in, but because this one feels grander than usual, I'm trying to be better. This weekend, the Austin Symphony Orchestra is closing its season with A Shakespearean Evening, which features excerpts from Belioz's music for Romeo and Juliet and Sir William Walton's music from the score for the Olivier film of Henry V. Actually, the latter is a "Shakespeare Scenario" that Neville Mariner and Christopher Plummer made together in 1990 that interweaves Walton's music and text from the play. I'm no Plummer (or Olivier, for that matter), but I'm getting to serve as narrator for ASO's concert, getting to perform about a dozen speeches with the full orchestra, plus singers from Chorus Austin and the Austin Children's Choir. If nothing else, the music will be spectacular! Would love it if any of you could come.
All the best, Robert
Oh, how wonderful! Sure wish I could be there.
Break a leg!
