Beloved Fellow Former Students of Shakespeare at Winedale,
Today marks the launch of the fourth annual Hornraiser in support of Camp Shakespeare, the program founded 24 years ago by Dr. James “Doc” Ayres, and now directed by the irrepressible force field that is Robin Grace Soto. Robin Grace dreams big and hopes to add 64 new donors to the 136 who gave last year for a total of 200 individual donors this year! Let’s make this happen! Doc is cheering us on!
Two unimaginably lucky groups of campers, ages 11-16, are convening this summer near Winedale for two-week sessions, studying Shakespeare through performance. Via a process that would be wholly recognizable to all of us, the campers find themselves through the plays and play, the heat and hard work, laughter and tears, and through *digging deep,* as they discover worlds built of *words* and relationships that will last a lifetime, as for us. This is the culmination of Doc’s life’s work.
Now, you know what comes next. It takes money to pull this off, money to cover the worldly needs of materials and transportation, money to cover production costs, and money to bring in guest artists to enrich the experience of the campers. Please open your purses and pull out your ducats! Please give generously, please give what you can, please give if you haven’t given to a prior Hornraiser.
Let’s hit the 15K mark TODAY!!
Love to you all,
Mary Collins (’75 and ’77) and Maggie Megaw (’77 and ’78)

I've already planted one seed in the Camp Shakespeare garden. I expect to plant more as the season progresses!
