Recall delight of seeing Maggie Smith and Ed Fox in a minor play called "Interpretors" in 1985 in London. Had box seats (they were cheap then). Must have been no more than 20 feet away from her. Transcendent.

I've always like the actor, Robert Stephens. He played Sherlock Holmes in Billy Wilder's 1970 film, "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes."

What I note (so to speak) about Smith's line readings is that she uses Shakespeare's language as a jumping off point and then really plays with it.
