I am really enjoying the PBS series, "The Hollow Crown." I have to admit my lack of familiarity with performances of the history plays outside of the scenes we performed from Henry IV, part One and Two. Some memorable moments of course of the tavern scenes, with Terry as a bit of a genetically challenged Bardolf, as well as her stunning performance of the Richard Ii speech, I still recall. I have enjoyed the series thus far. Any comments? I really liked the Richard II, and the actor's portrayal of Ricard II. Arrogant yet Christlike, with a nod to St Sebastan in the end. I have never seen it before. I did not care for Jeremy Irons though as Henry IV. He has a tendency to mumble a bit as he did in the Borgias, but is not the focus of the plays anyway. Like I am someone to criticize, although along with Rob, Terry, and Judy Knowles, we did make it to Texas Monthly in a photo shoot from Henry IV. Looking forward to the finale next week of Henry V. Will it rise to the two preceding filmed versions. A difficult task.
Knowing the learned readers, I am sure there are many opinions.
