Wikivoyage-User Bgabel (Berthold)
Hello, it is nice that Wikivoyage tells me to stop my work.
Editing any page I always get the message
<centralauth-error-unmerged>,
Why?
and how to solve this problem?
If we had nothing to do that might be O.K., but now it is boring.
Greetings
Berthold
Hi folks,
we did not import local files. These, like WTS and SHARED files, need
to be vetted and uploaded either locally (under the non-free content
policy) or to Commons. They should not be uploaded in bulk without
review. My apologies for not having made this clear earlier.
I suggest that we ask the WikiVoyage e.V. folks to enable write access
only to the File: namespace on the 1.19.1 wikis (En, Ru, Fr, Nl, Sv).
This would allow these files to continue to be tagged. The namespace
restriction would be enabled using this setting:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgNamespaceProtection
Does this make sense?
Thanks,
Erik

As you know :). Not trying to make too much of a splash given the beta
status but hope more folks are going to get involved with cleanup
issues.
Do note the point below about Incubator: To start a new language, just
visit one that doesn't exist and follow the instructions provided,
e.g.:
https://pl.wikivoyage.org
Other stuff that should already work:
* HTTPS without warnings
* Collection extension for PDFs/printed boooks
* https://www.wikivoyage.org/ portal
Biggest remaining issues I'm aware of:
* Mobile site (needs to be setup by ops)
* Search index (needs to be regenerated, pending)
* Potential additional issues with some user accounts (let us know)

So, if you've not been following along on wikivoyage-l (
https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikivoyage-l ), you
should know that Wikivoyage is now hosted on WMF servers. :) We're
currently in "beta", as there's still lots of smaller and larger
issues to work through, including transferring images to Commons or
local wikis as appropriate. But now's a great time to get involved if
you want to help fix things. These are the languages that are live
now:
https://en.wikivoyage.org/https://de.wikivoyage.org/https://ru.wikivoyage.org/https://nl.wikivoyage.org/https://it.wikivoyage.org/https://sv.wikivoyage.org/
But, any other language code should gracefully redict you to Wikimedia
Incubator, where you can easily get started to prove viability of a
new language. :-)
Like I said: Lots of things are still wonky. If you notice something
you can't fix, please report it on Bugzilla and add it as a blocker
for the tracking bug here:
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41184
While we're not done yet, I'd like to take this chance to thank
everyone who's been part of the process so far:
* the existing communities for being awesome in supporting this migration :-)
* Wikivoyage e.V. and especially Hans (for being our main tech contact
managing the DB transfers), Stefan (for handling all the
organizational fun), and Roland (for technical support and review).
* the WMF technical launch team: Chris Steipp, Daniel Zahn, Matthias
Mullie, Sam Reed + everyone who chipped in with help and support.
* the WMF legal and community advocacy team: Geoff Brigham, Kelly Kay,
Philippe Beaudette, and everyone else who helped.
* anyone else I've forgotten to name :-)
All the best,
Erik

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry to say that the sites are not yet launched, although we are
getting closer. We have encountered a few unexpected issues that have
delayed us, and the overall transfer process is taking much longer
than anticipated. We're importing the data as quickly as we can
without impacting other WMF sites, and are nearing the end of the
transfer process. After that, we'll be doing some final QA to make
sure that everything is working, and then we'll point dns to the new
servers.
In the meantime, the WMF legal team has also asked that we launch the
sites with new wording on the Disclaimer pages, using language as
close to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikivoyage/Disclaimer as
possible. It would be great if we could get some help with the
translation, and make sure this isn't going to be an issue for any of
the communities.
Thanks for your continued patience, and I have to be announcing the
sites' availability soon!
Chris
Hello,
I was admin on the English and French WikiTravel sites.
Is it possible to become admin admin on the English and French WikiVoyage sites?
I am admin on Wikimedia Commons.
I am Yann everywhere.
Best regards,
Yann
Lt Powers has a valid concern, that several of us share, and it has nothing to do with liking the logo or not.

Just a reminder to everyone to please remember to *not* publicize our
launch yet!
Until the image transfer is more complete, our admin resources will be
stretched very thin, if we get a ream of new editors working on the site.
Thank you,

The Wikivoyage logo poll is generating strong support for an option that
looks extremely similar to the Meta-Wiki logo. Several of us feel that this
will create brand confusion and numerous problems down the road, but it
still has strong support from folks who think that similarity - which in
this case goes far beyond just the colors - is an asset. Is there any way
we can get WMF's brand identity team (or whomever) to comment on whether
