Hi folks,
thanks to the WMF mobile team, http://en.m.wikivoyage.org/ and other
language versions should work now. The automatic redirect (causing
your phone to go the mobile site when you go to en.wikivoyage.org)
isn't set up yet, but is in progress.
Note that MaxSem (one of our mobile team members) set up the mobile
Main Page for English, but the community should improve further on
this initial configuration, and the same needs to be done in other
languages.
It's really easy to configure a Main Page in your language.
Essentially, it's a matter of adding a selector ID in the right places
of the wikitext of the Main Page. See:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Projects/Mobile_Gateway#How_do_I_for…
(This is necessary because Main Pages typically are formatted for
large screen sizes and can't easily be converted into a mobile view.)
All best,
Erik

Wondering if all have see this
WMF calls for more OSM involvement: the Wikimedia Foundation has
announced its intention to develop a Tile Map Service from
OpenStreetMap for Wikimedia sites. They also called for a
"face-to-face meetup/hackfest [for] geodata/mapping related
development work [to be held] sometime around Feb/March 2013," where
the WMF would offer sponsorships for "key developers" to attend.

Too small?

Meta articles? If it's what I think you mean, incubator is absolutely
not the place.

As I already wrote to Wikivoyage-l, I've already imported all the
relevant pages from general to meta-wiki: general was an extremely small
wiki, so it fits perfectly well in our usual standard of a few subpages
with their talk pages, a namespace doesn't seem needed.

Oggetto: Wikivoyage pages on Meta-Wiki
Data: Sun, 11 Nov 2012 20:25:05 +0100
Mittente: Federico Leva (Nemo) <nemowiki(a)gmail.com>
A: Wikivoyage Mailing List <wikivoyage-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
I've moved [[Travel Guide]] to
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikivoyage per talk request.
Now https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikivoyage should be the main
discussion venue for meta-(cross-language-)issues in Wikivoyage.
As Meta-Wiki replaces Wikivoyage general in this role, I've also
imported a few dozens pages which seemed still relevant to the new
context or still active, see
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Wikivoyage/ and
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikivoyage
The most important pages in this moment would seem to be
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikivoyage/New_language_versions and all
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikivoyage/Migration/New_policies subpages.
I hope this will help speed up the process. Please help cleaning up and
updating the imported pages and let me know if you need more of them; I
didn't find anything of persistent interest on wikivoyage tech, except
the documentation for extensions which seems already superseded by new
pages on mediawiki.org.

I wonder how we could import the data from WikiTravel in Portuguese.
Apparently the files have been exported, there would need to be deposited in
pt.wikivoyage.org, we ask a programmer Lusophone do since the WMF will no
longer do this work, and there is an interested community. Only want
to know the
steps to follow.
And'll document so that other interested communities can also do.

Hi,
Wikivoyage is focused on places to travel, it could be a single building
and could be a whose city. So we should be more serious about geo tagging.
For indicating a region now we are using a point. It is ok in some cases
but for most of the cases it is not that helpful.
Open Street Map could be a good options (read few previous discussions on
this topic), should not we give more focus here?

There's a helpful table here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EDP#Wikivoyage
which lists out which Wikivoyage wikis want local uploads enabled, and
which EDPs currently exist.
Remember, per our licensing policy, an EDP (basically a "fair use
policy") should be in place for wikis with local uploads. All freely
licensed files need to go to Commons.
Please help vet this table so we can adjust the configuration settings
accordingly.
The local thumbnails issue on en.wikivoyage.org should be fixed now
and other wikis will follow shortly.

Here's a dumb question.
As a bureaucrat on English Wikivoyage, I can make users into Administrators,
but I cannot remove that status. Now, I don't know that we've ever had to
do that, but technically we do have an inactivity clause. Is there a reason
that Admin status can't be removed once granted?
