[Apologies to those who receive two copies of this due to blind copying.]

I am attempting to resolve an issue with the paper I'm helping the UoW prepare regarding their experimental use of Wikinews as a student target-publication.

To whit, avoiding the term "citizen journalist" and distinguishing work written on Wikinews from some random person's blog where they purloin the lede from a mainstream story and append an editorial rant.

So far, the only distinct term I have come up with is "civic reporter".

I would certainly welcome something more effective, and more catchy. I'm sure most people can relate to my concerns regarding "citizen journalist" being a term readily applied in a derogatory manner.
