Hi everyone,
I am just forwarding this email which was sent to scoop, to the list.
(Mainly so I can link to it on wiki)

Dear fellow Wikinewsies,
This email has been a long time coming, and I think it is now the right
time to relinquish my accreditation, my administrator duties and the seat I
hold on the arbitration committee.
As the long-time Wikinewsie would have noticed, I just dropped off the face
of wiki and, to be honest, I don't regret it. While I do look back at my
time on Wikinews with fondness and admiration, I don't have the will to
write there anymore. Writing is my passion and that's why I've got my own
blog (http://birdseyenews.wordpress.com) and I am enrolled in a Media
Communication course at a local polytechnic. Wikinews set up my writing
career and got my name out there, and I'll never forget that.
I do hope the Wikinews brand continues on continues to grow and thrive for
some time yet.
On a less than positive note, I must admit now, looking back, if I ran
Wikinews I would focus more on the original reporting side of things and get
rid of the recycling of mainstream media outlet's news stories.
It's been a please.
Regards,
Gabriel Pollard.
Dear Wikinewsies,
We are conducting a study on the values and motivations of Wikinewsies, who
post or edit stories on Wikinews. You were emailed because you are
recognized as a Wikinewsy. The survey will take about 10 minutes. We deeply
appreciate your help to answer the questions.
For each valid finished questionnaire, we will donate $1 to the Wikimedia
Foundation. The results of the survey will be analyzed in an anonymous way
and used only for academic purposes. If you are interested in the findings,
please email ffgao(a)ufl.edu. We’d be more than happy to share the findings.
Thank you for your time!
