A poll is being held at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikinews/Licensure_Poll on whether or not
to adopt the CC-by-sa 2.5 licensure for the Wikinews project.
This licensure allows any use of the articles so long as attribution
credit is given to the Wikinews project and any derivations or further
developments are released under an identical licensure.
The poll was suggested by jwales, and is short so the board may have an
idea of how the community feels in time for their next meeting. Please
visit the poll and vote; comment on the discussion page
(http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wikinews/Licensure_Poll).

Hello everyone.
As many of you may be aware, Erik (Eloquence) has quit Wikimedia. He
was the administrator of this mailing list. Your new list
administrator is Chiacomo (Nathan). For list administration enquiries,
you can contact him at the list owner email address, which is
wikinews-l-owner(a)wikimedia.org - this has not changed.
Thank you, Nathan, for stepping up to fill this position.
~Mark Ryan
I've promised a few people that I would set this up:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/International_Wikinews_Writing_Contest
It's an attempt to increase the story output on Wikinews across all
languages, inspired by the English writing contest in April. The basic
idea is simple: Each contestant needs to write a story a day, or use a
joker if available. When one fails to write a story within 24 hours, and
runs out of jokers, one drops out of the contest. The last three persons
to remain in the contest will be the winners.
Please comment, translate or edit the rules and instructions. We need
prizes, judges from each language, and contestants. So, please spread
the word about this. I would like it to begin on September 1, 2005.
Best,
Erik
Hello,
I think a third future talk is a great idea. I do however have a few
issues with this proposal.
The date appears to be randomly chosen. IRC and any other real time
methods will exclude people based upon timezones and available times.
All of the other future talks times have been chosen by creating a page
with a list of possible times, and having people indicate what
dates/times they are available. The date/time with the most people
available is then used. If they are unable to make the listed times,
they are encouraged to list what times they would be able to make.
My second issue with this is the inclusion of the WNN proposal in the
items to discus. This proposal has been discussed many times, and the
results are always the same, people arguing with nothing accomplished.
The WNN proposal if it is to survive, needs either to be ignored until
the project can support it, or for the previous discussions to be acted
upon.
My third issue with it is Nick moderating it, no past future talk has
been moderated, and I do not think it should be especially by some one
with such strong opinions on many of the topics
