I arbitrarily delclare the first round of voting for the Wikinews picture of the year to now be open. We have 60 images to choose from as it stands. Those that receive some votes (probably 2 or more votes) will be carried on to round 2. The idea is to have a small number of pictures for round 2 (~10-15). You can vote for as many pictures as you want [you can even nominate pictures if you feel like it]. We invite all of Wikimedia (that is all of wikimedia with an edit count of over 50) to vote.
