Mr Robert,
You really should vet the people you choose to try and entangle in these hair-brained pretend-to-be-the dead-relative emails.
I am a reporter yes, a journalist. I have done investigative work on what is casually referred to as the Nigerian 419 advance fee fraud. I have no intention of meeting you in some dark and dingy corner of London where you will attempt to extort vast sums of money from me which I do not have.
You certainly dont know my background, and likely obtained my email address from a spam list. I suggest you shop for stupid peoples email addresses at Retards r us.
No Regards, no respect.
Brian McNeil.

Attention Friend: Please accept my sincere apologizes if my email does not meet your business or personal ethics. I will first introduce myself as Mr.Franklin Robert, the Chief Auditor with NATWEST BANK PLC, LONDON-UK. One of our accounts, with holding balance of £12.500 000,000 (Twelve Million Five Hundred thousand pounds Sterling) has been dormant and last operated for years ago. From my investigations, the owner of the said account,Is a foreigner by name Mr. John Shume Jda who died along with his entire family in crash at Birmingham Airport on 4th Jan,2002.View this website for verification http://www.cwn.org.uk/business/az/a/agco/2002/01/020104-air-crash.htm http://www.cwn.org.uk/business/az/a/agco/2002/01/020104-air-crash.htm
Since then, nobody has done anything as regards the claiming of this money,as he has no family member that has any knowledge as to the existence of either the account or the funds; I have confidently discussed this issue with some of the bank officials and we have agreed to find a reliable foreign partner to deal with.
My proposition to you, is to seek your consent to present you as the Next of kin and beneficiary of this late client,So that the proceeds of this account valued a huge sum shall be paid to you, and then we can share the amount on a mutually agreed percentage of 30% for you, while 60% for me and others involved, 10% shall be used for miscelenious expenses while the remainder shall be given to a reputable charity home because the money is owned by a deceased person.
This transaction is totally free of risk and troubles as the fund is legitimate and does not originate from drug, money laundry, terrorism or any otherillegal act, funds will be released to you after necessary processes have been followed.Let me hear from you as soon as you get this message,so we can proceed kindly reply at franklin_robert01@yahoo.co.uk http://uk.f266.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=franklin_robert01@yahoo.co.uk

Yeah, we're more laid back than Wikipedia, aside from when it comes to sources. I consider us the black sheep of the Wikimedia family; because to be honest some of the 'Pedia folks, I believe have some disdain for us, and they don't like the current events competition. IMHO.

Patrick,
Remember, it's the black sheep that stands out in the herd ;-). It's just that no one's been able to catch up with you with their paint brush yet :-). Stay at your own pace, it's working just fine.
I've been following this List for a while now, and have learned something from every post. I still don't know in what way I can contribute to it yet, but I'm learning.
As for the "'pedia folks", they are just cousins with problems they're working out of their own.

I'm not a "Wikipedia person" by any stretch of the imagination. I'm a non-Wikinewsie who is nonetheless sympathetic to the project's aims and interested in seeing how it develops. If you want to have a persecution complex then that's your business, but my 2c is that it's not real helpful.
Sorry if I accidentally stumbled over an unstated norm in my original post.

Brianna,
Overlook this issue - there is a degree of resentment that a group of people sit on Wikipedia and work on the "In the news" section and don't actually get involved with Wikinews. I'd hope you can understand that a degree of frustration exists that these people don't open Wikinews accounts and do stub articles on what Wikipedia is going to cover. It is more frustration than persecution complex.
Wikinews is eagerly reusing and linking to Wikipedia. Were you to pick any article mentioning the U.K. PM Gordon Brown you'd get, first a link to our category with all the articles mentioning him, and second a link to his Wikipedia page. Should you start by clicking on the category link you should end up at a page with a link to his WP bio.
Wikinews is indeed the black sheep of the WMF family, we have a different license for a start. Not to mention our policies on original reporting. In some respects we are far freer than other projects because of the Original Reporting aspect, yet feeding this back into the rest of the WMF projects can be problematic.
