Hello US Wikimedians,
I'm happy to announce the formation of the Wikimedia Cascadia mailing list, which serves the Oregon and Washington State Wikimedians. Please subscribe to the list if you are interested. [1] Wikimedia Cascadia is not an official Wikimedia thematic organization but we have regular events in Seattle and Portland.
June is coming soon, and that means Wiknic is almost here. Have you started planning? [2]
Cheers,
Pine

Thanks for posting, Pine! I am glad the mailing list is now active, and it has been nice seeing a couple new supporters at the Wikimedia Cascadia page at Meta.
I imagine Portland will be hosting a Wiknic, though I won't have time to work on that until I am further along with the Wiki Loves Pride campaign.
Wiki Loves Pride is a global outreach initiative to improve LGBT-related content on Wikimedia projects. You can view details at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Loves_Pride_2014.
If any Seattle residents want to work on any LGBT content (articles, photographs, etc.) during June, feel free to create a page for Seattle. Hosting an edit-a-thon on June 21 is welcome, but certainly not required. Even having a few people take pictures or upload free images from Flickr would be a huge help!
Thanks for your consideration, Jason

My last message was about Seattle, given the thread was originally about Wikimedia Cascadia, but I also invite Wikimedians from other regions of the U.S. to participate in Wiki Loves Pride. So far, there are proposed activities in Houston Philadelphia, Portland, NYC, Washington, D.C., and Vancouver (BC). If you are interested in working on LGBT-related Wikipedia articles, or uploading images of LGBT culture and history in your region, please add your city to the list!
I should also point out that Wikimedia Commons will be hosting an LGBT photo challenge in June as part of Wiki Loves Pride. So if photography is your thing, do contribute! https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Photo_challenge
Also, will there be a formal "WALRUS" meeting at WikiConference USA, or is the conference essentially a 3-day WALRUS-palooza?!
Thanks again, Jason
