Hi Wiki-North Americans,
I have put up a proposal for Earth Day adjacent meetups in in late April /
early May for particular places in North America, and to use the great
power of the CentralNotice banner to help achieve this:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CentralNotice/Request/Earth_Day_North_Ameri…
Like Wikipedia Day, any date that's convenient locally is fair game.
Wikimedia NYC also has some spare funding for ecological wiki events, that
expires this June, so we may be able to help support some local meetups in
other places.
Thanks,
Richard

Hello,
Planning is underway for WikiConference North America 2024, and we need
your help!
Please take a few minutes to complete our anonymous Community Engagement
Survey, and let us know what your community's top priorities and needs are.
This survey is important for us when it comes to requesting grant funding,
and helps us program a better conference for you and your community.
Survey link:
https://engagement-survey-2024.wcna.wiki
If you have any questions, please reach out to our team at
info(a)wikiconference.org
Thank you for your time!

Wikipedia's 23rd birthday is in January, and we're celebrating in North
America and around the world!
Add your events to the listing here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Day#Wikipedia_Day_2024
Since Wikipedia Day is not technically a religious holiday, you can
actually observe it whenever you like based on local circumstances. For
example, in February if it's too soon to plan for next month, or even
beyond.
We can do geonotice and probably even centralnotice banners to promote, and
feel free to reach out if you'd like some help or mentorship with local
organizing.
Also, don't forget your Wikipedia Day cake!
Thanks,
Richard

Subject: Wiki-Train to Toronto: RSVP by Friday!
To: New York City Wikimedians <wikimedia_nyc(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Please register by Friday with your passport info (because we are crossing
the Canadian border!) to join the Wiki-Train to WikiConference North
America in Toronto this November.
There will be two group trips, one from NYC to Toronto on Nov 8, and
another from Toronto to NYC on Nov 13. You can join for one or both.
Here is the Google form for the passport info, fill it out by Friday Sep 8:
* * *
https://train.wikinyc.org
* * *
We need to submit the form to Amtrak this week, but can change later, so if
you're possibly interested, I'd encourage you to fill it out!
Friends, partners and family are welcome on the Wiki-Train as well at the
same discounted rate, and their info should be filled in too, as long as
they plan to participate in WikiConference North America as well.
Please respond directly to this email if you have any questions about the
wiki-train.
More train details here:
