Hullo!
I've just noticed that this weekend is Doors Open Denver
(http://www.doorsopendenver.com/, but their website isn't the best
designed, so this PDF might be more useful: http://bit.ly/1OcjNrH),
with a *huge* list of 10$ walking tours and 50 "open sites" that are
free to explore through Saturday and Sunday. I'm not sure if I'll have
time to go down yet, but it might be an opportunity to organize a mini
Wiki Takes Denver event! We could focus on LoDo as we did last time,
meet during or after one of the tours, or try another venue (City
Park?).
Mike's Camera is organizing its own 10$ walking tours through both
days, with free loaner cameras available; I know there are some camera
buffs in this group, so that might be of interest! Details at
http://mikescamera.com/doors-open-denver.html
Anyone interested?
cheers,
Gaurav
A week later...
Anyone interested?
DPL Central branch is open from 9-5 on Saturdays and it looks like they
have mostly morning activities in their meeting rooms for Saturdays in
March.
The cost of renting a 16-person meeting room would be $25/hr, plus
additional cost for serving food there (a fee to make sure we don't mess
stuff up with food stains, etc.)
Would you attend a 4 or so hour event, with snacks, to write articles about
women's history (specifically, women in Colorado)?

Sarah, you beat me to it!
Who's interested in an edit-a-thon relating to Women's History Month in
March, at the Denver Public Library?
We need to start planning now so that we can secure funds for the room
rental, snacks, etc.

Hi everyone!
The 4th annual WikiWomen's History Month is in March, coinciding with
Women's History Month. This event is cross-cultural, international, and
multi-lingual.
Please start planning your events (offline and online) to contribute
content to Wikipedia and related Wikimedia websites about women's history!
You can post your events and find resources on how to implement
edit-a-thons and workshops here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiWomen's_History_Month
Any questions just let me know!
I look forward to your participation!
Sarah

Yo, wikipedia friends! I created another new article about the beginnings of a possible revolution in access to health information and medical records.
It is pretty geeky: Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR, pronounced "fire") is a draft standard describing data formats and elements (known as "resources") and an Application Programming Interface (API) for exchanging Electronic health records. It comes from the Health Level 7 (HL7) health-care standards organization.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Healthcare_Interoperability_Resources
Would someone be willing to review it and remove the "unreviewed" template?
Note: actually, while I created it from scratch, I then noticed that some other folks created the same page (on a redirected name) a few years ago when the subject was really in its infancy. They had fewer good citations then, and it was speedily deleted. I think the situation is very different now.
Cheers,
Neal McBurnett http://neal.mcburnett.org/
Hi everyone,
The string of emails from July still applies for tomorrow's edit-a-thon at
CSU
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Colorado/Fort_Collins/2014>.
Please show your support, digitally or in-person, if you can!
Who's interested in applying for Wikimedia user group status
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_user_groups/Applications#applicat…>
as "Rocky Mountains Wikimedians?" The application asks for number of
interested parties and future event ideas, to name a few questions. What
say ye?

Hi Guarav and everyone,
Is there going to be a Wiki takes America 2014? The page still has a 2013 logo.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_America
Nevertheless, there are still more pictures to be had, no?
I checked out the Denver Public Library page; I assume Wikipedia groups qualify for the reduced room rental rate because Wikipedia is a non-profit and a meet up would be public??
I’d be down to organize something for September (Wiki Takes Denver would probably be able to be put together in a short time), but I’m only available the weekend of the 13th. What say ye, folks?
Best,
Q Miceli

Hi everybody!
Both Open Access Week (Oct 20-26, http://www.openaccessweek.org/) and Wiki Loves Libraries (Oct/Nov, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Loves_Libraries) are rapidly approaching, and I was wondering if anybody wanted to organise something for either of them. Of course we’ve already got one editathon lined up in Fort Collins (October 21, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Colorado/Fort_Collins/2014), but it’d be fun to do something in the Boulder/Denver area as well. I’ll get in touch with CU Boulder and see what I can find out about their Open Access Week, but — if everybody’s willing to pitch in — we could organise a meetup at the Denver Public Library as well (http://denverlibrary.org/content/meeting-room-event-space-procedures-central).
We also had a great time at Wiki Takes Denver last year (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_America/2013/Denver), and those things are really easy to organise. Unfortunately, my September is completely crap, but if someone else can take the lead in planning a date and travel, I might be able to make it — or we could hold it in early October instead, when it’ll be easier for me to make it!
Anyways, I just wanted to get everybody thinking about Wiki events in the next couple of months, so please shout out any ideas you have and lets see if we can make ‘em happen!
cheers,
Gaurav
