Heya!
I have just learned through sources mysterious (i.e. User:Pharos told me) that a Great Colorado Wiknic is to be held on June 22, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado! Details and RSVP at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Colorado/Wiknic/2013
I'm hoping to be there, and to see some (or all?!) of you there!
cheers,
Gaurav
[Pardon the cross-posts - and the English message] - Please forward as
well!
Hi everyone,
March is Women's History Month, and this will be the second year for
WikiWomen's History Month, an *international* collaborative event that
takes place offline at edit-a-thons and online through project focuses.
Events and projects focus on improving women's history coverage on any
language project. We have a page on English Wikipedia, like last year,
to gather all of the events:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiWomen%27s_History_Month
So far we have events in South America, Europe and the United States.
I hope you'll consider throwing an event in your town, village, or city
- or do a women's history focus for your WikiProject - large or small!

Hi, all!
So, I've been in contact with [[User:LauraHale]] , and she's coordinating efforts for a few Wikimedia Australia people to come to Colorado to take pictures and write articles about a Paralympic ski event that's happening in Vail this December. ( https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:IPC_Nor-Am_Cup )
I was thinking about it, and how cool would it be if we met them at the train station and welcomed them to the US? Their train arrives on December 1, at 18:38 (local time, I'm assuming). A small group of Colorado Wikimedians would go a long way in making them feel welcome.
I've already talked with LauraHale, and she likes the idea. So, what say y'all?

Heya,
Wikipedia Loves Libraries will be at Norlin Library, CU Boulder, this
Thursday! The focus is going to be mainly on primary resources, but
come on down to meet with other local Wikipedians! It'll be on
Thursday, November 1, at 4pm.
I'm going to be doing a presentation on "your first edit" on
Wikipedia, covering the absolute basics of using the Sandbox, the edit
page, previewing your changes before committing and taking part in
conversations on Wikipedia. Lisa suggested that this might be more
interesting if multiple editors presented this -- giving multiple
perspectives and giving us a chance to show off our diversity. Any
volunteers? Let me know!
All details here:

Gaurav
Heya,
I think a great way to bring more CU students to Wikipedia would be to help CU student groups to connect their interests with Wikipedia. For instance:
- The Boulder Photography Club (https://www.facebook.com/boulderphotoclub) might be interested in finding out about open access and why sharing images with Wikipedia is a good thing.
- CU Wild (http://www.colorado.edu/studentgroups/cuwild/index.html) and the EBIO Club (http://www.colorado.edu/ebio/bioclub/Biology_Club/Welcome.html) might be interested in improving articles about Colorado's flora, fauna and wild spaces, as well as possibly having photos to contribute.
I'm not sure which other groups might be worth approaching, but I thought I'd put this idea out there!
cheers,
Gaurav
