আজ গভর্ণমেন্ট কলেজ অফ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং অ্যান্ড লেদার টেকনোলজির কৌস্তূভের কাছ থেকে একটি উইকিপিডিয়া কর্মশালার জন্য যে ই-মেলটি পেয়েছি সেটি ফরওয়ার্ড করলাম। সকলকে পড়ে দেখতে অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি।
যদি কারোর পক্ষে কৌস্তূভের প্রস্তাবিত দিনগুলির মধ্যে কোন একটিতে কর্মশালা পরিচালনা করা সম্ভব হয়, তাহলে সত্ত্বর জানান। আমাদের সেই মত প্রস্তুতি নিতে হবে।

That workshop was really helpful and made my life more meaningful. I would therefore request you to again conduct an workshop at our own college again Govt. College of Engineering & Leather Tech for our college techfest "Enginerds".
We will provide volunteers and wifi and a projector for your smooth conduction of workshop. The dates are 25th, 26th and 27th of this September.
Not only that if you permit us to allow your logo in our posters, we would be very obliged to do so. It would be your promotion and for us a pride to carry.
Hope that you guys again make a miracle and show the world how the worlds' largest online encyclopaedia is created and maintained.

আমরা সম্ভবতঃ সেই পর্যায়ে এসে পৌঁছেছি যেখানে আমরা এই কর্মশালাগুলোর অসাড়তা উপলব্ধি করতে পারছি। আমি অন্ততঃ মনে করি কলকাতায় এই কর্মশালার আর বিশেষ কার্যকারিতা নেই। জেলা বা অন্যান্য রাজ্যে হলে অবশ্য আলাদা কথা। আপনাদের মতামত জানান।

আমার ব্যক্তিগত অভিমত,
যদি বিভিন্ন জায়গায় এক বার করে কর্মশালা না করে একটি নির্দিষ্ট জায়গায় কর্মশালা করে সেটা নিয়মিত ভাবে ফলো-আপ করা যায়, তবেই এই কর্মশালাগুলি কার্যকারী হবে, নতুবা নয়। ফলোআপ না করলে, বা একই স্থানে বার বার আরও উন্নত কর্মশালা না করলে নতুন সম্পাদক কিছুদিনের মধ্যেই উৎসাহ হারিয়ে ফেলবে।
কাদের জন্য কর্মশালা করা হবে এবং তাদের কিসে উৎসাহ, সেটি জেনে তবেই কিসের কর্মশালা হবে সেটা স্থির করা উচিৎ। উদহারণ স্বরূপ, আইআইটি বা অন্যান্য ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজ সাধারণ উইকিপিডিয়ায় সম্পাদনা করার চেয়ে স্বাভাবিক ভাবে মিডিয়াউইকি, উইকিডাটা সহ অন্যান্য টেকনিক্যাল দিকে বেশি উৎসাহী হবে, তাই সেখানে হ্যাকাথন বেশি কার্যকরী হবে। অপরদিকে কোন বাংলা বিভাগে উইকিসংকলন বা উইকিপিডিয়ায় সাধারণ সম্পাদনা বেশি কাজে দেবে। আবার কোন কোন বিভাগে কোন একটি নির্দিষ্ট বিষয়ের ওপর বেশি উৎসাহ থাকবে, সেখানে সাধারণ সম্পাদনা নিয়ে কর্মশালা করা বৃথা, সেখানে সেই বিষয়ের ওপর এডিটাথন বেশি কার্যকরী হবে।
আমাদের অতীতের বেশিরভাগ কর্মশালা একমুখী ছিল, প্রেজেন্টেশন দেওয়ার মত। সেটিকে দ্বিমুখী বা বহুমুখী করা জরুরী। অনেক সময় যাদের জন্য কর্মশালা, তাঁদের কাছ থেকে বহু নতুন জিনিষ শেখা যায় বা নতুন সমস্যা সম্বন্ধে অবহিত হওয়া যায় বা কোন অনেকদিনের সমস্যার অসাধারণ সমাধান পাওয়া যায়, তাতে উইকিমিডিয়া সহ উভয় পক্ষই সমৃদ্ধ হয়। দ্বিমুখী বা বহুমুখী কর্মশালায় উভয় পক্ষই সক্রিয় ভাবে অংশ গ্রহণ করতে পারেন বলে উভয়পক্ষের জন্য তা মনোগ্রাহী হয়, যা নতুন সম্পাদকদের উইকিমিডিয়ায় সময় দিতে উৎসাহিত করে।
উইকিমিডিয়ার বাইরের দুনিয়ায় মানুষ ব্যক্তিগত লাভ ক্ষতি বা নামযশের মোহে কোন কাজ করে থাকে। মুক্ত জ্ঞানের দর্শন তাঁদের কাছে সম্পূর্ণ অপরিচিত একটি বিষয়। উইকিতে যে সকলে মিলে কোন কাজ করে থাকেন এবং সেই কাজের ফলে যে তাঁর কোন দাবী নেই বা এটি যে কোন একজন মানুষের সম্পত্তি নয়, এটা হজম করা অনেকের কাছেই বেশ শক্ত ব্যাপার।তাই পরবর্তীকালে যখন তারা উইকিতে কাজ শুরু করেন, তখন তাঁদের চাহিদা সত্ত্বেও ব্যক্তিগত লাভের অঙ্ক শূন্য থাকায় তাঁরা উইকিতে কাজের উৎসাহ হারান। তাই কোন কর্মশালার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মুক্ত জ্ঞানের দর্শনের প্রচার হওয়া বা কেন উইকিতে সময় দেব তা বোঝানো অত্যন্ত জরুরী।
আমার মনে হয়, একটু সুচিন্তিত ভাবে পরিকল্পনা করলে কর্মশালাগুলি কার্যকরী হবে।
