I presume that this is an image of the flag to which Jason & Mako are
refering:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Cascadia.svg
That image is CC-BY-SA-2.5,2.0,1.0. So if we take the image of the tree, I
believe we would need to acknowledge Alexander Baretich. However, if we
take it as inspiration & create somewhat different version of a conifer,
well, that's a different matter.

The OCD side of me is slightly distracted by the
off-centered red circle,
and I wish it were slightly more reminiscent of the Doug fir (Cascadia)
flag
I don't mind the off centered circle but I had the same thought
about the tree. The flag tree is also a bit more iconic as opposed to
representational (i.e., one color) which I think makes it look a
little bit better as a logo.
