Brian brought up a similar idea awhile back. I like it too. One possibility
is that one of us, or our outreach coordinator if we are able to hire one,
will contact local governments about this concept and collaborate with them
to implement it.
By the way, you might suggest at transit meetings that transit agencies
could put Wikipedia QR codes on their stations and vehicles. (:

Quick (and somewhat related) idea: print out a good
number of stickers with
the Wikipedia logo and a QR code and post them on street lamps near places
that have entries, preferably good articles or those with non-stubs. "Read
about me on Wikipedia" stickers could be a fun way to make people more
aware of Seattle's presence on the site.

Hi folks,
Just a heads-up that I'm having a discussion with WMF about the
possibility
of Cascadia receiving a WMF trademark license to
enable the production of
Wikipedia-themed hats and beanbag chair covers that can be available for
purchase at WikiConference USA 2016. These will probably be optional
add-on
items when people purchase their conference
registrations. There has
been a
small but enthusiastic discussion on Facebook
regarding the proposal for
beanbag chairs (:
Cheers,
