I thank everyone for their interests and suggestions.
I would like to
thank Mitch for writing the bylaw, which was wonderful.
I have added a link to
another vision of the by-laws which was not
mentioned in Mitch's proposed agenda.
I have talked to Alan and we agreed to have an
informal meeting with
everyone interested in Wikimedia Canada (WMCA) on coming Wednesday
(Jan. 23) at 8pm EST on Google Talk (unless we can get a private IRC
channel). The purpose of this informal meeting is to let everyone know
what's going on at the moment as well as things that we should read to
prepare for Jan. 30's official meeting.
What makes the meeting official?
As for committee positions, I suggest that we need a
translator who
can translate the information into french. And as a gentle reminder,
the age for individuals running for steering committee should be 18 or
above, due to legal requirements.
I would like to be secretary for the committee. I was
a participant
in the establishment of Wikimedia Hong Kong (WMHK) so I have some
understanding in forming local WM chapters.
Let's not fill these positions
prematurely. One big difficulty is
bringing people in Canada together over a huge geographical area. You
did not have that problem in Hong Kong.
