Need a break? Looking to celebrate Earth Day? As part of Boston University’s Online Earth Day celebrations<https://www.bu.edu/sustainability/what-you-can-do/events/earth-day-festival/>, we will host a Sustainability-themed Wikipedia-Edit-a-thon on Thursday, April 23, 2020, from 3-6 p.m. (Eastern). We’re particularly interested in topics related to sustainability, but you can also improve your own favorite topics. We will have new editor training and a Purple Playlist featuring lots of b-sides. Wikipedia Day edit-a-thon, MIT

Hi all, We at MIT Libraries are pleased to host a Wikipedia Day edit-a-thon again for 2020 centered on newly-in-the-public domain books that MIT has digitized. We will have it on January 15, 2020 (Wikipedia's 19th birthday!) from 4-7pm in Barker Engineering Library on MIT's campus. Delegate for Wikimedia Summit 2020 (it could be you!)

Just a reminder that applications for Wikimedia Summit 2020 are due on December 16: < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Summit_2020/Registration_Informat…> This is the annual meeting in Germany in April for all of the Wikimedia affiliates from around the world to collaborate on movement strategy. As a user group, we are eligible to send one delegate. The summit organizers cover participants' travel costs. We don't have much time for deliberation; perhaps those who are interested should say so here, or email me, and then we can quickly select someone? We can also talk about this on Slack, but I know not everybody has joined, so I don't want anybody to be left out. Benjamin

Hi all, Welcome to new members, and hello to everyone who was able to join us at WikiConference New England! It was exciting to meet everyone. We had a nice meetup of people in New England at the conference. I just created this, you can join with this link: https://join.slack.com/t/wikinewengland/shared_invite/enQtODMyNTg1NTg4MzcyL… it is wikinewengland.slack.com, if you have trouble with the invitation let me know. 2) For those who don't know: you can apply to the Wikimedia Foundation for a "rapid grant" for small expenses related to an editathon or other event. For Wikipedia Day 2020 events this year (January 15) you'll need to apply in this month's cycle - so by November 15 (in 2 days!)
