How do they impact individual researchers and their work? Do they help or hinder achievement of the SDGs? Movement charter vote

Dear Greater Bostonians, Our usergroup, Wikimedia New England, is eligible to vote in the movement charter ratification vote: https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter Thanks to SJ for getting our paperwork in order to make this possible. I'll be voting on behalf of the group, as SJ is also the representative for another user group. The charter has been developed through a long and involved international process. It seeks to define roles, responsibilities and governance among different movement bodies, such as the WMF and chapters. The ratification vote is happening now for both groups and individuals (established editors can also vote for themselves). If you have any feelings about the movement charter - positive, negative or ambivalent - please express your preferred vote to me this week, by July 8th (the day before the vote closes) either publicly on the list or privately. Because we don't really have defined membership, I'll try to discern the feelings of the group based on the feedback I get. Hi folks, I'm planning an edit-a-thon at MIT on Tuesday, January 16, in the afternoon and you are all cordially invited. We'll celebrate Wikipedia's 23 birthday (one day off of Wikipedia Day, which is Jan 15), and this year's public domain day - lots of good stuff <https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday/2024/> is now in the public domain. Our theme this year is "Boston and Beyond" - let's edit on topics related to campus, Cambridge, greater Boston, and beyond. Dear Devang Dave, I also joined this mailing list quite recently, and I’m pretty pessimistic about a meetup like this happening anytime in the near future. (The last meetup was in September as I wrote earlier; the last meetup before that was in January 2021, shortly before I myself joined English Wikipedia and made my first edit.) But if it works for you personally, I’ll be at the MIT campus this afternoon and evening, so you can meet me there then. There, if I recall correctly (I didn't take a photo sadly), we agreed that we should meet on the last Saturday of each month. In particular, that means that the next meetup should occur this Saturday, October 28, 2023. Are any of y'all down to meet that day? I think I'll be available then, except from around 2pm to 4pm, and I have no strong preference of my own as to the venue.
