I think you guys have a dictionary in place and not any dictionary:)
A dictionary with words that you won't share with your kids:)

The wordlist is under GPL license (which is in essence the
same as FDL), but I'm no expert on licenses. As far as
I'm concerned, there is no issue and use as you see best.
Do they have a mechanism in place to use the wordlist ?
or will they deploy QaMoose (or the mini QaMoose coming up) ?
Salam.

I don't know why "تحرير" is showing up twice in my Microsoft article?
Secondly, I think yesterday article count was 108 and today it is 117!
We must be doing something right, guys:)

Salam..
I am Isam Bayazidi, from Jordan LUG, Linux4arab, and active in the
Arabic Wikipedia ( http://ar.wikipedia.org ). I would like to ask you
about the CDs/DVDs about Yemen history, culture, and heritage. I am very
interested in including articles/pictures about Yemen in the Arabic
Wikipedia, and other Lang Wikipedia. and I wanted to ask few questions
if I may:
- Do you Own the copyrights for the CD and it's content (pictures/text) ?
- Will it be possible to put the content (text/pictures) under the GNU
FDL or a GNU FDL compatible license ?
I will be waiting to hear from you.. and please do not hesitate to ask
me for anything either related to Jordan LUG, Linux4arab.com, or the
Arabic Wikipedia.
Yours Truly,
Isam Bayazidi
I know it is bad to restrict editing of a page unless a person has an account,
but on the same hand one has to keep track of how many times a person
enters a copyrighted material like the article up there.

Salam Nadim,
At Arabic wikipedia, there is a need for an English/Arabic dictionary.
I was asked to see if the license of Wordlist permits such usage
under Wikipedia which is FDL. It would be great to have another source
of usage for our massive work. The people at Wikipedia are excited (so am
I) and don't have a dictionary they can use under FDL.
Let me know where to go from here.

Greetings,
I maintain a GPL'd dictionary off Arabeyes and wonder how could
the above make use of it. It is English/Arabic based and has 87,000+
words and gets bigger by the day. I wonder if one of the maintainers
of ar.wiki have an input regarding Wiktionary.

I would like to thank the person who made the page of "Rashad khalifa" look
pretty.
It is nice to have a face lift for the many article in ar.wiki.

Hello,
I found the following page today:
http://leuksman.com/misc/maps.php
There are maps of all continents with no text in it, so every wikipedia
can fill in the country names in its own language.
They are photoshop files, but should be editable in Gimp, too.
Maybe someone likes to do arabic maps ;-)
greetings,
elian
..One last question, is it safe to assume _any_ picture under
Wiki is ok to use in our Arabic articles?

I just read the news letter and was not too happy since Arabic
did not even make it in the list of _considered_ languages to
have sizable article count.
- Just a note for the maintainers of ar.wiki from a humble 3 days
old contributor; a live article count would be really encouraging
to see where we are as far as article count.
- Writing a 3 lines article on a heavy subject is not advisable. I think
either a writer write something meaningfull or leave the topic blank.
I tried to explain this to my son who submitted his first article yesterday
to no avail :)
Kind regards,
