I agree with another poster. Enabling independent publishing is a goal of the FDL.
However, I would like you to consider the possible value of waiting a few months prior to publishing.
I have been told Wikiversity should startup soon. If this is true, running a class around the work to be published might shake out a lot of bugs such as spelling, word use, confusing presention, gaps, etc. It might be worth waiting and attempting to run a class around the book/text to get this helpful input and free editing and feedback prior to going to hardcopy print.
On the other hand, there is always room for improvement in future editions so if you feel the urge to commit to publication then by all means proceed at best possible pace.
