Was anyone aware, when deciding that Simple English Wikibooks would be
closed, that it would outright be deleted? See
http://simple.wikibooks.orgto see what I mean.
This prevents any import of the content to English Wikibooks at all,
regardless of how it would be done. I know the bug filed to close the wiki
only asked for closure and not deletion.
I am disappointed by this move. I had heard that it wouldn't reopen due to
policies but I would have made an effort to import what content there was to
at least our transwiki namespace had I known it would be deleted entirely.

Dear Wikibook Contributor,
Thank you for those who participated in the online questionnaire which aims to assess the motivation of Wikibooks' contributors.
I am pleased to advise that the analysis of the data from the completed online questionnaires has been finalized. The analysis provides some initial insights into the reasons Wikibookians
contribute to Wiki textbook projects. However, some of these results require further investigation to gain a better understanding of the motivation of Wikibooks' contributors.
Now, I would like to invite you to participate in the online interview. The interview will take from 30 to 45 minutes. This interview will be in the form of text chat.
Please read 'Research Information Sheet' @ http://easstudents.cw.unisa.edu.au/com/survey/Information_Sheet.pdf which provides more detailed information
about the research and interview. This research project has been approved by the University of South Australia's Human Research Ethics Committee.
Could you please reply to this email with the appropriate local time for you to meet with you online?
Date & Time: ----/----/2010 @---- AM or PM?
City: --------------------
Your reply will be considered as your consent (agreement) for the interview. When I receive your reply, I will add you to my messenger contact list,
and you will then receive an invitation from InterviewonWikibooks
I look forward to meeting with you online
Thank you
Kind regards

Hello all,
A reminder that the steward elections[1] & reconfirmations[2] are on
now, so please come to Meta and let us know who you think should become
a steward, and which of our current stewards you're unhappy with (that
may include me!).
Stewards are users with complete access to the wiki interface on all
Wikimedia wikis, including the ability to change any and all user rights
and groups. They are tasked with technical implementation of community
consensus, dealing with emergencies, and intervening against crosswiki
vandalism.
Stewards generally do not perform actions on wikis where local users are
available to perform them, except in emergency cases. This position was
originally created to dissociate rights management from software
development.
Stewards are elected roughly annually by the global Wikimedia community,
and appointed from the elected candidates by the Board of Trustees.
Candidates must have a support/oppose ratio of at least 80% with at
least 30 supporting users. Current stewards are confirmed during each
election.
Thanks,
- -Mike
