No I think I'm out of ideas. You could try copying the html code from the .htm file into the edit box. Wikipedia does support some html. However it does not support scripting ( Javascript, VBS) so I doubt it'll work.
You could also try contacting a developer to see if they can help you do what you want. Try User http://wikibooks.org/wiki/User_talk:Brion_VIBBER to see if he can help you.

A much better idea would be to make the interface language a user preference.
Somebody has already coded this.
See:
http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2004-April/009681.html
The category system being developed on test could be extended to create
language-specific RC and other special pages.
With the above, there is no valid reason why Wikibooks should be split up -
just give books descriptive names to avoid naming conflicts.

Wikibooks is behind the main Wikipedia on software updates
right? There are various "small" things that are different
in how they function or how pages are presented. Is it a
ton of work to get the software for Wikibooks updated to
the level of Wikipedia? Who does this?
Thanks,
Karl
