Hi Andy,
thank you very much for your feedback, this positive one motivates me. This is the first time I heard about a successful installation of kiwix-serve in a school local network.
I have open two feature requests: * daemon mode: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2961214&group_id=17... * verbose mode: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2961216&group_id=17...
I will try to work on that during the next days. In the worth case this will be implemented until the end of the month.
I have also seen you made a blog post here: http://blog.wizzy.com/post/Kiwix-install-at-Kwena-Malapo-school-Johannesberg
I try to build a planet to aggregate experiences related to Kiwix from different people in the world: http://planet.kiwix.org This is nothing big, but hope this may help people to make choices and find the best solution for their concrete problems. If you are agree, I would be happy to add you to their (please create a kiwix category/tag in this case).
Regards Emmanuel
PS: Small fix for you article: I do not work for Linterweb and Linterweb has not been working on Kiwix since more than a year. They also do not have prepared the WP1 0.7 ZIM in English. This is my work.

Hi everybody,
I want to announce here I have finished a first
version of kiwix-serve. I installed this at a farm school near Johannesberg last saturday.
They have a small network of 22 Windows XP computers installed in a converted
container - the container was supplied by Rotary International, with a
door
and 4 windows and roof ventilation added.
They have no internet.
I put down a linux server, installed the zim file, kiwix-serve and the necessary
extra debs, and a startup script run from init.d.
I had to write a script to background kiwix-serve, as I saw no daemon mode.
I also redirected a chatty stdout to /dev/null.
I am a bit behind with svn updates, so apologies if these have already been added. I attach a couple of pics of the school - sorry I have none of the inside of
the container.

Cheers, Andy!
