Also, there is a lot of work on these topic related collections matching curriculum being done now, with the benchmark to the India curriculum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Offline_Wikipedia_for_Ind...

Dear Martin,
Could you send some screen-shots of the mediawiki on Chemistry or say give the links (if its public.) It seems to be a very interesting piece of work.

Erik,
I have not been very active of late, because I've been working on a chemistry wiki (Mediawiki based, of course!) for the Royal Society of Chemistry, and busy with my regular job. I'm travelling to England tomorrow for the official launch of the site, which happens on Friday. Another issue is that User:CBM, who wrote the bots and who has worked
with
me a lot on previous releases, is going up for tenure and so his priorities have shifted also.
After I return home I should have more time to work on 1.0. I would like to work on Version 0.9 and have it ready for the Spring. However, I'd really like to have a decent indexing system worked out before then; in
my
mind that's the last thing that really needs solving before the 1.0 release. I realise that most people will use the search, but I feel
there
should be a more traditional alternative to that, and it will be needed for any paper editions anyway. I want 1.0 to include all of the "must-have" features.
I've also prepared a chemistry collection based on a standard UK curriculum, designed to use the PediaPress experimental multi-column
format. I'd like to see some more specific topic collections assembled this year, and we'll work on getting them printed (e.g. for schools in India).
If you know of anyone who could help with the indexing system, please let me know.
Happy New Year! Martin

Out of curiosity, what's the status of the WP 0.9 release of the English Wikipedia?
Thanks, Erik
