Hi all
Training is progressing well here at the BL, and there are several curators
with XML files who would like to test uploads on Beta but are still waiting
to have the requested domains whitelisted.
The requests have been logged on Phabricator - I was wondering if there's
anyone on the list and currently awake/available to approve the
whitelisting?
Cheers,
Ally

Sorry for the email overload - during training I just encountered the same
upload error logged on beta on live commons - my XML file was denied for
being too large even though it's a 7kb five-record file. However, a few
minutes later it previewed the batch as normal. Just wondering if I should
be concerned about access for tomorrow?
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers,
Ally

Hi again,
Can I also request beta user rights for user drjwbaker.
Just to clarify - I know that we won't be able to use beta today or
tomorrow, but I would like to know that the participants of the training
are otherwise ready to start testing as soon as beta is back in order.
Cheers,
Ally

Hi all,
I'm running training for the BL today and tomorrow on the GWToolset to
enable curators there to start uploading content as soon as possible. I
have a couple of usernames that I would like to request access to the tool
for on Commons Beta and ideally Commons as well, although that may need to
wait.
Usernames are:
Dahlia Travers
Pjhatfield
Helical gear
I am expecting a few more participants to require user rights today, so my
apologies if there is a small flood of requests sometime around noon - had
hoped to get this all sorted in advance but best laid plans etc.
Cheers,
Ally
Hi
We are having trouble testing an upload to Commons Beta using the GW Toolset. We have obtained all the correct permissions and whitelisted the domain.
We attach a xml file with data for only a hand full of low res images but the upload then fails when we click 'submit'. We get the following message: The file that was uploaded exceeds the upload_max_filesize and/or the post_max_size directive in php.ini.
Does anyone have any ideas. I have attached the Metadata file we are using.
Thanks!

Hello,
I would be grateful for some advise on the following matter. The NLW is interested in uploading a large Tithe Map (1840's map of a whole town) to Commons. The map has already been Geo- referenced at multiple points. Would it be possible to import that Geo referencing data into Commons?
Will commons except a .geotiff file? or can the data be imported in some other way. The file will be close to the 1GB upload limit (manual uploader) in size and will be High Resolution.
Thanks
Jason

Dear GLAMWiki-verse,
[tl;dr Seeking feedback. Please read the GWT 2.0 grant application
draft before I submit it officially:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Europeana/GLAMwiki_Toolset ]
As you're aware, within *Europeana* I (and MANY others) have been working
on building a major grant application to the Wikimedia Foundation to
continue development of the GLAMwiki Toolset.
I think the last few months - since the toolset has been "public" - have
shown that there is widespread interest in (and usage of) the tool. It's
already become part of the "standard" things that we use when talking to
potential partners. However, that there are lots of things that can still
be improved in it.
As anyone who has ever written a large grant proposal knows, there is a LOT
of negotiation, behind the scenes that goes in to getting the document
supported by all the relevant stakeholders, and this is no exception. [Heck
- I chaired the first formal meeting about this project during Wikimania
Haifa!!]
So, it is with great pleasure that I can say that the GLAMwiki Toolset
grant application is *almost *ready to be submitted officially.
This is where *you* come in...
Many of you have already seen this grant in various states of construction
or have been part of the consultation process about what gets prioritised
and what doesn't. Now I would really appreciate if you could have another
look at the [hopefully] finished application. This is the chance to
identify any errors, missing elements, excellent examples I've forgotten,
logical flaws, spelling mistakes...
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Europeana/GLAMwiki_Toolset>*
- If you like it, excellent. Please put your name on the "endorse" list
at the bottom.
- If you've got a comment/critique/suggestion, excellent. Tell me (on
the talkpage, email, morse-code, carrier-pigeon etc...)
Once any major points arising have been addressed, we'll then "flip the
switch" and formally submit the grant application.

Europeana GLAMwiki liaison
p.s. In case you're wondering, we do have permission from the WMF grants
team to submit this application at this time, even thought it is
during the 'inspire
grants' campaign
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Inspire_Grants_%E2%80%93_Gen…>,
because it was already so far down the track of negotiation with various
stakeholders.
