Sorry for the email overload - during training I just encountered the same upload error logged on beta on live commons - my XML file was denied for being too large even though it's a 7kb five-record file. However, a few minutes later it previewed the batch as normal. Just wondering if I should be concerned about access for tomorrow?
Anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Ally
It is not a guaranteed service. Training materials would sensibly have worked cases sufficient, if it is offline at that moment. I would be happy to walk through my own pragmatic belt and braces approach to large uploads, for an old GLAM friend of mine such as the BL.

That’s weird. The problem on Beta is that the way GWT checks the size does not work using the new HHVM deployed on beta − but not yet on production. Is it possible that some of the live traffic is directed to servers using the newest HHVM ? Maybe Brian would have an idea ?

I'm surprised it previewed the file I don't know how or why that happened (Are you.
As a status update on my end. I fixed the patch. It now requires code review from a developer who is not me (I'm attempting to nag people on irc). Once that happens (and if they have no objections) then the beta site will be fixed.
In the long term, I think we should move to a more stable testing environment for users. Tgr just now suggested test2.wikipedia.org, which I think is a great idea for the longer term.

Whoops, that sentence got cut off.
I was going to ask, Are you sure you didn't have both real commons and beta commons open, and get the tabs mixed up. I'm not sure how else that could happen.

Tgr just approved the patch (yay!), so beta commons should be fixed in the next several minutes once it updates.
