One option is to use an HTML-based presentation system such as
deck.js<http://imakewebthings.com/deck.js/>
The problem of html-based presentation solutions is the lack of authoring
tools, but it provides many other advantages.
You can use jquery.i18n <https://github.com/wikimedia/jquery.i18n> to deal
with the localisation. Jquery.i18n is a javascript library from the
Language Engineering team that allows HTML localisation from the
client-side. The messages for different languages can be integrated into
translatewiki.net to get them translated.

Julien Dorra and I are starting to work on a template

related presentations. This template will be used for the slides to be
shown at FOSDEM (hopefully, if we get a session accepted), and can be used
by others as well.
Before making hard choices with technology selections there is a question
we want to solve: how to make slides easy to update and localize?
This is the MediaWiki community (including Wikimedia tech), therefore it
makes sense to wonder whether a MediaWiki platform wit a Translate
extension and/or a plug to
https://translatewiki.net/ could help here...
But even if that backend would work, how to go from strings translated and
updated via wiki to a final and nice-looking PDF or HTML based presentation?
Your ideas welcome at

or here, of course.
If you want to get involved in the production of this template and the
slides, in that URL you can find the other topics we are discussing right
now.
