Yeah, this is cool, and I look forward to seeing it develop. I agree it will be important to see how it impacts people finding things (particularly important things like the section edit buttons that display on mouseover here).
A related issue is touch. A touch device using this interface may not have a clear way to access the section edit links. This could be mitigated by also displaying the section edit link upon focus/touch on a section.
