Hi there,
I just wanted to tell you, that there now it a way to connect to #wikimedia-commons on IRC without installing an IRC client:
http://wikipedia-irc.cruxwan.de/Chat-commons.html
You just need to have Java installed. For technical issues please refer to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:DaB.
Best regards,
Flo

Slight point of fact... And I tested it this morning just to be sure, you've always been able to connect to IRC via wikizine at http://www.wikizine.org, click the chat button at the bottom, and choose #wikimedia-commons from the drop down menu.

Wouldn't it be good to have this kind of tool on Wikimedia servers (the toolserver?) to allow people to connect to our IRC channels without having to download a client?

Freenode host their own java applet now which you can use to access any channel: http://java.freenode.net/
