Hello,
I've been interested for some time in the idea that Wikimedia project could offer technical support to our contributors, in the form of specific tutorials, small events with crash courses, and similar things.
To illustrate the concept, I have set up a small tutorial on Museum Photography, which is available here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Rama/Museum_photography
The red links in the box above are an illustration of the various other subjects that I can think of from the top of my hat (and to which I could contribute to some extend), I am sure that there are lots of others. The idea is not to re-write the Photography Wikibook, but to write to-the-point checklists.
I'd be glad to have comments on this, and maybe contributions to make it truely worthwhile.
Cheers ! -- Rama
I like the concept of this, but in a sense we have similar things - isn't that what Wikiversity is all about? Wikibooks could also potentially cover this...then again, I'm not sure if they have any specific stuff on photography. So yeah, it's a nice idea, but I'm not sure if it's a Commons sort of thing.

Yes, I've migrated it onto Wikiversity: http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Museum_photography and now also http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Concert_photography
If people have other specific experience, it could be interesting to form a task force.

On German Wikipedia we have a similar page with tipps for photography: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Fototipps
I linked it to and on your page.

It is a Commons sort of thing. And we should have not only tutorials about museum photography but also on other areas. Teaching our users how to take pictures to be published in Commons our responsibility.
Rama: I miss some examples of good museum pictures on the tutorial, you included mostly what not to do.

I think that it is at least relevant for Commons to have and produce such documentation, and it is probably the sort of form that Wikiversity takes. Maybe we could consider setting up an informatl special interest group or "task force" to create such things on Wikiversity.

Because I suck, so I have lots of examples of the later and few of the former :p Actually, I only put my own images as examples of things to do if they have been promoted to QI or FP beforehand; and it is difficult to give examples of images made by other people because I don't know the specific difficulties that they encountered to make them. I would be very grateful if someone could exhibit examples of good images which were produced by compromising on some particular aspect.
