Hey there Federico,
We have shared different software suggestions all of which were recommended to us by sound engineers and audio producers. There are many musically-inclined community members that are already using these tools. You are most certainly not limited or required to use any of them to submit a sound logo.
Here are some of those free *gratis* and free *libre* https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications/Sound_Logo/Sound_collaboration#Tools suggestions for you on meta. Hope this helps. During the May–June community conversations, we did demonstrations of Audacity, a wonderful free and open tool for audio production. You can watch the demonstration https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications/Sound_Logo#Community_conversations at your convenience.
Best, Mehrdad

Tomorrow is the launch of the Wikimedia sound logo https://soundlogo.wikimedia.org/ contest and we couldn’t be more
excited.
Do I see correctly that this website is promoting proprietary software, and adds insult to injury by calling them "free"? Quite appalling.
