It's possible to sign up for the list and choose not to receive messages. Interested parties could easily do that without having to compile a list of "approved senders".

Did we ever hear back from the Mormons on the DMCA notice? I've been informed they made no effort to try a takedown against Wikileaks, so we're in the "is it, or isn't it?" of not knowing if a link constitutes a DMCA violation.
