returns actually nothing (redirects to the API help page). Do you have any idea how to retrieve a list of the 25 pages in this category?

You are probably looking for prop=categorymembers instead of prop=links. prop=links only gives you those links appearing in the category description text.
sorry, that should be list=categorymembers, of course.
