The mobile team currently worked on a nearby feature that has been enabled on various wikis including Wikipedia: http://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/05/29/wikipedia-nearby-beta/ Try it out here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby
Currently and tragically it is disabled on Wikivoyage.
It opens the question of how should a nearby page work on Wikivoyage?
Should it surface nearby places of interest - e.g. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building or should it surface nearby places to visit - e.g. Boston, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (I could see it being useful as an addition to the "Go next" section of an article - especially if with a tweak or two we allow users to input coordinates other than the current location) or maybe it should do both?
Personally I'd prefer the emphasis on nearby places to visit but I was interested in other's thoughts as I've heard arguments for places of interest. This also raises the question of how close constitutes nearby - is 100 miles / 160km a nearby place?
Whatever happens please let's get this enabled on Wikivoyage! This feature was made for it :)

There's a relevant discussion on the English language Wikivoyage here: http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Wikivoyage:Travellers%27_pub#Special:Nearby_on...
Coordinate templates would have to be updated on Wikivoyage languages that want to use this feature.
