I agree with Sandy's comments.
I have been worried if we have a huge media blitz the experienced editors we have may be overwhelmed with a massive number of edits that don't meet policy and it might be hard to keep up.
So I agree with Sandy's recommendation of a two stage process, at least for Wikivoyage.

I'm inclined to think it should be a two-stage process. Let logged in users on any WMF wiki know as soon as possible, so that we get experienced editors quickly. Then later do a general announcement.
What about non-English language versions that are not up here yet? WT has more versions than we do yet, including some important languages like Portuguese with > 1000 articles. Could editors from Portuguese WP help with getting WV up in that language? if so, we should let them know asap.
