With the acquisition of edX pointing to its eventual re-enclosure, it's
worth reflecting that there's no easy-to-find catalog of freely-licensed
courses, even though many exist. There isn't even something as simple as
the Open Textbook Library <https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/> index for
books. Has anyone worked on something like this? There used to be an OER
search tool that specialized in CC-licensed courseware, but it seems to be
down; maybe merged into more general CC search?
I was reminded of this by a recent thread on wikimedia-l about standing up
an Open edX instance for outreach courses.

Hi All!
My collaborator and I are working on a grant proposal for a new learning
project <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Eventmath> on
Wikiversity. We're calling it Eventmath, and we're really excited about it!
Our proposal will create an organized learning portal that will help math
educators contribute lesson plans based on a news article or social media
post. As part of the grant activities, we will also promote the project
widely in order to build a self-sustaining community.
We have been working on this project for a while now but only recently
found out about the grant, so our proposal is still in the draft phase. If
you could express your support before the deadline today, it would help us
to make this resource a reality!
Thank you so much,
Greg Stanton

On August 2020, the Wikimedia Foundation board of trustees may decide a
rename to "Wikipedia Foundation" and various other things.
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Board_noticeboard/Boar…>
Following a community meeting, a proposed open letter was written:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_open_letter_on_renaming>
«We ask the Wikimedia Foundation to pause or stop its current movement
renaming activities, due to persistent shortcomings in the current
rebranding process. Future work should be restarted only in a way that
ensures equitable decision-making.»
(Sorry for the crossposting. When replying, be mindful of cc. Do
consider forwarding to language-specific discussion venues with a short
translated introduction, or translate the pages on Meta.)

Indeed... there is no wikiversity phd. Nor is one planned in the near
future in any language, as far as I know.
Getting WV courses onto accredited platforms seems like a step towards
alignment (or perhaps first: working w/ an existing set of accredited
courses and getting their materials onto WV as a non-accredited space to
find and learn from those materials!)

Hey!
I've created a couple of web-sites and wanted to ask you some questions about them, please answer them here http://nkamal.com/learn.php?f8f9. Thank you!
